Mmm...Chocolate, Coffee, And Wine. Everything's Fine!

It's funny how you'll put off visiting a place because it's right there in your backyard. It's good to take some time off and be a tourist in your own town and that's exactly what I did recently.

There are several great tour companies in the city and Show Me Seattle is no exception. Operating for over 20 years, they've introduced a new Chocolate, Coffee, and Wine Tour that's worth the price and experience.

First stop was the Starbucks Reserve in Capitol Hill. A coffee lovers dream, the multitude of coffee aromas hits your nose right as you walk in.

The Roastery is impressive, but more so the explanation of how that warm, liquid concoction that is coffee, travels from a bean on a plant, to a roasting facility and straight into your morning cup .

Did you know that the same coffee can have a different taste depending on the type of brewing method?

Coffee beans before/after the roasting process

You have to really love coffee to devote the 10 years it takes to become a certified Master Roaster. Seattle's Starbucks Reserve has the only Master Roaster in the entire international Starbuck Roasteries!

Second on the tour is Fran's Chocolates. Located in Georgetown, Fran's is housed in the building that was home to the former Seattle Brewing and Malting Co. It's no joke when one says it's like walking into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Fran's staff runs a well-oiled machine. Their attention to detail and artistry to each confection is pure magic.

It's still a surprise for many guests when they find out that Fran's Chocolates was former President Obama's favorite sweet treat. Check out the special blue box with the Presidential seal and make sure to taste Michelle Obama's favorite: the dark chocolate and gray salt caramels.

The last stop on the tour takes you to Pioneer Square (Seattle's oldest neighborhood) to visit Estates Wine Room. Showcasing the best from the Northwest, Estates Wine Room offers a small curated collection of wines from three vineyards - Double Canyon in Horse Heaven Hills, Washington, Seven Hills Winery in Walla Walla Valley, Washington and Archery Summit in Willamette Valley, Oregon. Top that off with a nice charcuterie plate and you've got yourself a wonderful tour finale.

Surrounded by numerous neighborhood restaurants, Estates Wine Room is perfect for any pre/post dinner activity.

The Chocolate, Coffee, and Wine Tour runs Monday thru Friday, 9:30am to 1:00pm with an introductory price of $99.00 plus tax.

Show Me Seattle offers pick-up and drop-off to most Seattle hotels in a comfortable 14 passenger mini-coach. If you're already out and about you can meet them at the general pick-up on 4th Ave at the Westlake Center.

*heads up: must be over 21
